Brian Bowden, who sadly passed away on Monday 3rd March 2025 aged 88 years.
Brian joined Bristol Fire Brigade in 1960 and following boundary changes on the 1st April 1974, then changed to County of Avon Fire Brigade. Brian served at many stations in Bristol and Avon to include Bridewell, Speedwell, HQ as a Deputy Training Officer and prior to retirement as Divisional Commander of B District based at Bath. Brian was a well-respected member of Avon Fire Brigade and for his contribution to Training, Development and Senior Leadership.
Brian retired in 1989 after a successful and dedicated career. Retirement was enjoyed in Shaldon, South Devon with his wife Jean and their children. Brian often went sea fishing on his motorboat and enjoyed family life and friends in Devon.Brian passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side and leaves his daughters Suzanne, Penny and Nicola plus grandchildren and wider family members, all of whom will miss him dearly, along with his friends and former colleagues.
Brian’s wife Jean sadly died back in August 2015. I
