The Avon Fire & Rescue Service Welfare Support Group exists to establish on request, a means of instant communication between all sections and voluntary organisations within the Service, such as The Fire Fighter’s Charity, Avon Fire & Rescue Service Welfare Liaison Team, Avon Fire & Rescue Service Pensioners Association, Old Comrades Association, Human Resources Department and all other representative bodies, including Airport Authority’s affiliated to the Fire Fighters Charity.
We aim to offer a proper level of confidential support to all colleagues currently serving, or have served in the Fire & Rescue Service (and/or their immediate dependants) who may be experiencing distress as a result of Bereavement, Illness or Hardship. Support is also available to those from other Fire Services who find themselves in need of help whilst in hospital or convalescing within our area.
The Welfare Support Group consists of volunteers who as part of the Support Group, provide cover on a 24/7 basis, therefore ensuring a prompt and compassionate response to all calls for help from both serving and retired personnel alike. At the core of this arrangement is Service Control who will receive the original message requesting assistance, before contacting a member of the Welfare Liaison Team on your behalf.
The Avon Welfare Support Group are here to offer our sympathetic support to all Serving and Former Members of the fire community in your time of need, so please feel free to contact us at any time.
