Roy Weston – 18.03.2025

Roy Weston aged 86 years passed away on 18th March 2025 aged 86 years.

Roy joined the London Fire Brigade at a young age, this led to over 30 years of service starting off in London but then his journey then led him to Avon where he served at Pilning and Avonmouth Fire Stations was a valued member of the team with lots friends and co workers. When they had some spare time at the station when there were no call outs, you would always catch Roy playing table tennis with one of the guys.

Roy earned his 30 years of service that made him very proud of what he had achieved and an hour to accept. When Roy worked 4 on 4 off shifts, his daughters remember they would always find him at the bar in the clubhouse with a pint in his hand. Roy then later retired the fire service around his late 50’s.

Later on, his journey took him to Chepstow moving closer to his 2 daughters where he met and settled with his partner for over 30 years. Roy spent his retirement the right way, going abroad up to 3 times a year, soaking up the sun with a pint like the sun worshiper he was. One hobby that Roy had and loved was gardening. He had a greenhouse in his garden where he grew vegetables& salad from, cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuces and green beans although you would always catch him chasing the birds off his beans. Roy’s garden was also very colourful, full of bright flowers and plants, so he could sit in his chair with his t-shirt off, wearing his 2 euro Benidorm shades, with a cold beer by his side admiring his hard work.
