The Pensioners Association has a well established and dedicated team of Volunteers who serve with the Avon Welfare Support Group, regularly visiting colleagues at home or during their time in Hospital.

Michael (Mike) Hughes aged 88yrs passed away on 3rd September 2025 after a short illness.
Mike was a larger than life character serving at several stations in the Bristol and Avon Fire Service finishing up as a Flexi-Officer in October 1989. His wife Marlene past away six months prior
Mike did not want a funeral, his family are organising a gathering in memory of Mike, details to follow.
