Geoff Toop – 01.10.2025

Geoff Toop aged 82 passed away on 1st October 2025.

A tribute from Becky and Lianne to their Dad.

With a very heavy heart we have to announce the death of our lovely Dad, former Bath firefighter, Geoff Toop.
Previously of Southdown and Odd Down in Bath and more recently of Falmouth in Cornwall. Dad moved back to Somerset in recent months to be brilliantly cared for at The Glen in Evercreech.

He served as a firefighter in Bath for nearly 30 years and retired in 1993 after turning 50. He was a member of Blue Watch Bath for most of that time, with some brief stints in Bristol. My sister and I have lots of great memories of visiting him at Bath fire station or attending events there as a family, as well as hearing lots of tales of the good times on the job with Blue Watch. He genuinely loved his job and we are incredibly proud of his service. We loved nothing more than seeing him out and about driving engines and I was proud as punch when his crew turned up to a small incident at my school many moons ago.He loved Bath and would regularly visit with us there after moving to Cornwall, catching some rugby at the rec or visiting a few favourite pubs. He visited me in Australia for several extended stays over the past 13 years and absolutely loved it here. I asked if the heat was getting to him one time and he reminded me he’d had a lot worse while on the job!

He loved the sunshine and spotting different animals. Back home near Falmouth he loved the coast path, birdlife and taking it easy with his many friends.
He passed away peacefully on October 1st aged 82. He will be so very greatly missed by all his family and many friends. He was a fabulous dad and a loving husband to our late mum Pat Toop who sadly left us over 20 years ago.Dad didn’t want a funeral service, we will have a celebration of his life at a later date.

See you ‘dreckly’ Dad xx
