John Waft aged 79 years, passed away on Tuesday 23rd December.
John Joined the fire service 1st Nov 1974, 27 years of service, serving at Avonmouth, Southmead and HQ retiring in August 1998.
He was born on 6th August 1946 in Liverpool, he went into the Merchant navy at 18 yrs and met and married Helen his 1st wife in 1971 and they had 3 children, then he first became a grandad in 1992 to a granddaughter then in 2011 to a grandson who he adored, he then became a great grandad in 2013. When John retired, he moved to Devon where he met and married his 2nd wife Trisha. John was the guitarist/singer in a skiffle band when he retired which he got much joy out of, he sadly became ill on Tuesday 16th Dec 2025 and died on 23rd Dec 2025.
