John, was a kind and generous Christian man who made an impact on many lives. He never sought to be in the limelight preferring to work quietly in the wings. Having worked in the fire service for over thirty years finishing in Emergency Planning, he started work at Horfield Baptist Church as a handyman/caretaker where he was a member for over 60 years. He was “ Mr Fix it”, using his many skills to help maintain the fabric of this listed building. He always found solutions to practical problems and accomplished them himself whenever possible. He was a team player and a good listener with a lovely sense of humour. He made wonderful props for church services and various pantomimes the church produced, one of the most memorable being the legs of the giant roc as it descended from the roof! At home he loved to be in the garden pottering or the garage making items. He is sorely missed.
