John Gamlin – 27.07.2017

John GamlinJohn Gamlin aged 70, passed away on Thursday 27th July 2017 after a long illness.

Following initial training at Reigate Training Centre in 1965, John was posted to Bridewell Fire Station in central Bristol moving through the ranks whilst servings at Southmead, Patchway and Temple Fire Stations.

John was awarded the ‘Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct’ for driving a petrol tanker out of the filling depot, during a fire in an Avonmouth Petroleum installation.

John served as a Sub Officer on Blue Watch at A5 Patchway and as a Station Officer at Green Watch A1 Temple, retiring as an acting Assistant  Divisional Officer in January 1998.

Funeral service will be held at Crowlas Methodist Chapel, Penzance, Cornwall TR20 8DN, on Monday 14th August at 2.00pm.
