bill-plenty-1929-2015William Ernest (Bill) Plenty passed away on 3rd March 2015 aged 85 years. Bill, joined the fire service in 1952 and retired in 1985,having reached the rank of Station officer. Even after retiring Bill continued to teach the recruits to swim for many years. Bill also formed a Pipe & Drum band which he was extremely proud of and taught many to play the bagpipes including his grandson. Bill was affectionately known as ‘Bill McPlenty’ due to his love of the Bag Pipes, which wasn’t always shared by those on duty with him at A3 Avonmouth.  Bill will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
