John Sweet – 25.03.2019

It is with much sadness that we have received notification of the death of former Sub.Officer John Sweet who passed away on Monday 25th March 2019.

John was a member of the Gloucestershire Fire Service and serving at Patchway from 1966 when, with the creation of the new County of Avon Fire Brigade, he transferred to Stroud, 1974 and later to Gloucester from where he retired as a Sub.Officer in 1993. Later in his retirement, John became a popular pub landlord and for 20 years ran the Railway Inn at Cam, Gloucestershire.

John’s funeral will take place on Friday 12th April at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Cam (post code GL11 5JX) at 12:30pm and followed by a cremation at Gloucester Crematorium. Afterwards there will be a celebration of John’s Life at the Railway Inn at Cam.

Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service will organise a letter of condolence for the family
