Colin Rees passed away on 28th October aged 85 years.
Colin Albert Victor Rees, was born 10th September 1936 in Lewisham, London. Between the age of two and eight he survived World War II, though he still had lots of fun with his siblings and friends. He moved to Bristol at the age of eleven and loved it.
Colin went to work with his father in South Wales floor laying before joining the Grenadier Guards at eighteen, where he served for three years. After which he was posted to Germany, then Cyprus. At twenty five Colin joined the Bristol Fire Brigade and was posted to the Training School at Speedwell Fire Station, where he passed his driving tests for cars and fire engines. at the conclusion of his training he was awarded the much coveted Silver Axe as top recruit. Colin spent his fire service career at Speedwell taking on various roles, including that of Canteen Manager and occasionally Santa Claus at the Christmas Parties.
Colin Adored his job and the Brigade family and achieved 30 years service until he retired at fifty five. Colin married Margaret in 1961 he was loving and devoted to her for sixty wonderful years. They had three children, fourteen grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren to who Colin was caring, and a doting role model who will be terribly missed by all his family and huge network of friends and colleagues.
Funeral service will be on Friday 3rd December 2021 at 14:15, Canford Crematorium, Canford Lane, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, BS9 3PQ. Afterwards at the Bristol Civil Service Sports Club, Filton Avenue, Horfield, Bristol. BS7 0AT from 15:30 to 18:00 all welcome
