Barry Vowles – 28.01.2022

Dear all

It is with much sadness we have received notification of the death of Avon Fire & Rescue Service pensioner Barry Vowles aged 74 years, who passed away suddenly on 28 January 2022.

Barry served at Avonmouth, Southmead and Temple Back Stations and retired on the 01 November 1995, where he and his wife Janis went to live in Ireland.

He leaves his wife Janis, five daughters and a son.

Janis and family have kindly provided a few words in memory……

Baz as i called him, was very proud to serve in the Fire brigade and was sad when he had to take early retirement due to medical reasons.  He was a loving husband, Dad, and Grandfather and was known as the gentle giant because he cared so much for other people.  His love of Liverpool football club and cricket stayed with him throughout his life.  The family will always miss him and love him, and keep the memories we had with him close to our hearts.

Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
